As the owner of a business in a new field, it is easy to get swept away in exploring new ventures, mapping new rabbit holes. This is a great way to build and develop, but in the end, can cause you to become lost in the rabbit burrow, with limited experience in the ground you've already passed over to fall back on.
I've found that while I've spent a lot of time chasing down leads, developing flight plans, and building the business, I've noticed it becomes easier to skip over the easy flying afternoons, those 'for the hell of it' jobs.
To combat this, I'm setting myself a challenge to drain a battery every day for the next 21 days. The goal is to force myself to spend a more equal amount of my time aloft, rather than just talking about it a lot.
I'll give myself days off when conditions make it impossible or unsafe to fly, but otherwise, 25 minutes of my day won't hurt my schedule!
The first day saw me taking advantage of perfect weather and an excellent opportunity in a lunch break to stop off at Balgowlah Heights and take in the beautiful view of the Sydney Heads.
The skills touched on today included a little practice scouting the area, carrying out field pre-flight procedures, and some flying practice including hand launching and catching, return to home procedures, and airspace monitoring for the helicopters that frequent the area.
Overall, it was great to be in the air for no more purpose than my own interest and practice. Looking forward to tomorrow!
Stay tuned and fly safe.
